#CovenandCoffin Blog Hop: Hour 4 of the Murder Mystery Party

Halloween event copy

The Coven and Coffin Blog Hop:

From October 27th until November 1st six authors, including myself, are participating in the Coven and Coffin Blog Hop. This hop is a little different from all the rest since we’re each sort of putting on our own show. For instance, I’m running the Murder Mystery Party. You’ll find that post down below. Each day will be another hour at the party. The suspects are us–the authors doing the hop. Each day on my blog you’ll read part of the Murder Mystery script and you’ll also meet one of the authors. You must pick up the clues as you read and try to figure out which one of us is the killer. How fun does that sound? Well, there is plenty more where that came from. There is also a Hop wide giveaway. We’re giving away a huge prize pack to one luck reader, so be sure to enter the giveaway each day. Now, here is what the other authors are doing and how to find them:

Noree Cosper: Ghost Stories

Peter Dawes: Stormy Night Flash Fiction

Jessica Fortunato: Halloween Treats and Recipes

Kayleigh Grian: Characters in Costume

M. R. Graham: Tributes to Those We’ve Lost

The Murder Mystery Party Continues!

The Rules:

  • Readers may ask one question in the comments section per day.
  • Only 3 questions will be answered per day and some answers may throw you off the trail.
  • All authors have motive to kill the victim, only one had the guts.
  • Each day is another hour at the party.
  • The party starts at seven and you must find the killer by midnight!

The Party Goers:

Kayla Curry (Host)
Noree Cosper (Guest)
Jessica Fortunato (Guest)
Peter Dawes (Guest)
M. R. Graham (Guest)
Kayleigh Grian (Guest)
Stanford McQueen (Totally made up guest)
You (Guest and Detective)

In case you missed it:

7:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m.

9:00 p.m.

10:00 p.m.

You, Peter Dawes and MR Graham go into the bathroom to look over the scene again.

Peter takes it upon himself to interrogate MR Graham while you’re all investigating.

“So,” Peter says, “I hear you and Stanford had a bit of a rocky past.”

“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean I killed him,” she replies.

“Well, he did make you miss a pretty big panel at that conference. I heard he sent you on a wild goose chase so that he could hog the panel. That’s enough to make anyone pretty angry. Maybe even angry enough to kill.”

“What about you? Let’s not forget about the reviewers that he paid to give you bad reviews. That is grounds for being angry at someone,” Graham fires back.

You shake your head and continue to check out the bathroom.

It becomes clear that there was a bit of a struggle, but whoever killed Stanford tried to put things back where they belong. The whole bathroom is just a little off. The attention to detail that Kayla took in setting up the party was amazing. There was no way she would let the bathroom look like this when the living area was decorated from top to bottom. A hand towel was on the floor, a toothbrush was upside down in the holder, and a few of the loops on the shower curtain were unhooked from their decorative clasps.

You decide to pick up the hand towel and discover a keychain in the shape of Pennsylvania. The person who owns this keychain was in the bathroom before  the body was discovered. It had to belong to the killer.

As far as you know, there are only two people from Pennsylvania at the party. Those two people are Peter Dawes and Jessica Fortunato. You have no idea where Kayleigh Grian is from, so you decide to keep the key chain a secret until you find out.

Peter and Graham continue their bickering while you try to piece together more of the evening. It’s nearing eleven o’clock. Perhaps there was something you missed in the bedroom where the weapon was discarded. You plan to visit there next, knowing that if you can find a piece of evidence in each room that points to one person, there is no way they can deny their guilt.
